Rachael Richards Jenks, 96, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2014. A memorial service, celebrating her life will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. at The Church of the Incarnation in Highlands, N.C., with The Reverend Howard W. L. Enfant officiating.

A graveside service will follow at Highlands Memorial Cemetery. Rachael was born in Ellendale, Wisc., on Sept. 24, 1917 to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Bonner Richards. Mrs. Jenks’ family moved to Winter Park, Fla., shortly after her birth and later, Rachel attended Florida State University.

Mrs. Jenks married George M. Troutman Jenks in 1952 and they resided in Boca Raton, Fla. A long time summer resident of Highlands, Mrs. Jenks was a member of Wildcat Cliffs Country Club and Highlands Country Club. In 1998, Mrs. Jenks moved to Highlands year round and resided at Chestnut Hill.

Mrs. Jenks is survived by her niece, Joanne Richards Crane (Stewart Radford Crane) and her nephew, William Legro Richards, Jr. She is also survived by her great nieces, Ann-Stewart Crane Boss (Aldrich) and Elizabeth Crane Swent (William) and six great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Troutman Jenks and her brother, William Legro Richards, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations being given to The Church of the Incarnation in Highlands, North Carolina.
