2018 Apple Heritage Day

By Don Richeson / Staff

CASHIERS -- More than 150 people attended the 12th annual Apple Heritage Day event Saturday at Cashiers Community Center. The Cashiers Historical Society's free event's big draw was again, as it has also been in other recent years, free apple seedlings with heirloom variety tops grafted onto them. Doing the grafting while folks watched and chatted with them were volunteers Trevor Howard, Ken Fisher and Will Wardowski, all of southern Jackson County. Other offerings included an abundance of apple goodies to eat, apple children's activities, a photo booth and live music by Asheville-based Kim Smith Band.

Be sure to pick up a copy of the Wednesday print edition of the Crossroads Chronicle for a big photo package on the fun.
