Cashiers murder suspect Thomas Glenn Palmer Jr. returned to Jackson County
CASHIERS -- Thomas Glenn Palmer Jr., 34, the man charged in the Feb. 3, 2016 Cashiers slaying of Cashiers resident Timothy Vincent Norris, was returned to Jackson County Tuesday, April 3, from Georgia, where he had been held on an unrelated armed robbery charge. He is expected to be tried in Jackson County court for murder in Norris' death. This is according to Jackson County Sheriff Chip Hall, who contacted the Chronicle with the announcement late Tuesday afternoon after the Chronicle’s April 4 print edition had already gone to press.
N.C. District 30 Attorney Ashley Welch has not publicly ruled out the possibility of Palmer receiving the death penalty if he is found guilty in the brutal shooting death of Norris, who was found dead in his home after being shot multiple times.
