TUCKASEGEE -- Southern Jackson County now has a second Dollar General store. The nationwide “small-box” discount retailer this week opened a brand new store in the Tuckasegee community at 27 Granite Cliff Drive, which is just off N.C. Highway 107 North. Construction on the store started in early spring and its grand opening celebration is tentatively planned for 8 a.m. Saturday, July 14. However, it is having a “soft opening” now. Dollar General spokesman Angela Petkovic invited the community to come out during the grand opening to take advantage of free gift cards and giveaways. Store hours are expected to be 8 a.m.-10 p.m., seven days a week.
Why did Dollar General decide to open a store in rural Tuckasegee? “When choosing store locations, meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority,” Petkovic said. “The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice. We know convenience is a major factor in our customers' shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three- to five-mile radius, or 10-minute drive. We also take demographic trends, competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration.”
The 7,200-square-foot Tuckasegee store will employ six to 10 employees, depending on the individual needs of the store. To apply for a position, visit www.dollargeneral.com/careers.
