Early, still incomplete Nov. 6 election results

As of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, election results in Jackson County were just starting to trickle in and it was still too early to declare any winners.

However, with about a third of the votes in, incumbent Democratic Sheriff Chip Hall was leading Republican challenger Doug Farmer 6,021-3,400, or 64-36 percent.

Incumbent Democratic Board of Commissioners Chairman Brian McMahan was leading Republican challenger Ron Mau 5,870-3,604, or 61-38 percent.

Again, it should be emphasized that these results listed on the North Carolina State Board of Elections website are only early listings and vote totals can change significantly as the night progresses.

Check back Wednesday morning for updates or visit https://er.ncsbe.gov/.

There will also be more complete results in the Chronicle's Nov. 14 print edition.
