Jackson Sheriff Chip Hall fends off challenge by Doug Farmer

Incumbent Democratic Sheriff Chip Hall has successfully fended off a challenge by Republican Doug Farmer, with Hall capturing 8,850 votes to Farmer’s 5,959 votes. However, despite losing overall, Farmer surpassed Hall in Cashiers and Glenville precincts -- with Farmer getting 672 votes to Hall’s 448 votes in Cashiers; and Farmer getting 592 votes to Hall’s 380 votes in Glenville. Farmer also won the most votes in northern Jackson County’s Barker’s Creek precinct, but Hall captured 11 of Jackson’s 14 precincts to win the contest.
Hall captured 59.76 percent of the total vote to Farmer’s 40.24 percent.
