Tour de Cashiers still on for Saturday

CASHIERS -- As of Friday morning, Tour de Cashiers is still on for Saturday, Sept. 15, despite Hurricane Florence being expected to continue advancing through North Carolina late in the day Saturday. The annual event is expected to draw scores of bicyclists and runners to and around the crossroads, with the bicycles leaving from Cashiers-Glenville Recreation Center at 8 a.m. and the runners leaving from there at 8:30 a.m.
Organizers posted the following message on the Tour de Cashiers website:
“We continue to monitor the weather. After meeting with the local authorities and discussing the event, we plan to move forward with all rides and the 5k run at this time. We understand conditions can change and will keep you informed. The current weather forecast looks promising.”
Early registration pickup is is still scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Friday at Whiteside Brewing in Cashiers.
