Amy Elizabeth Bauknight
Amy Elizabeth Bauknight, 51, of Highlands, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 4 after a short illness.
Amy will continue sharing her special gifts in her heavenly home.
She was born on July 25, 1965 in Lancaster, Ohio. A “Sunshine Girl,” she brought joy and a different meaning of life to those she touched through Highlands School and our community and to all who loved her at Annandale Village in Suwanee, Georgia. Our precious Amy will remain an angel among us.
She was an artist, loved needlework, basketball, miniature golf, bowling and walking on the beach. She was a charter member of Mountain Laurel Tennis Club, where she practiced with the Highlands swim team. Among her many Special Olympic medals was the gold medal for the softball toss in N.C. and the gold medal in freestyle swimming in Ga.
Amy is survived by her parents, John Edward Bauknight III and Susan Stetler Bauknight; brother John Edward Bauknight IV and wife Laura, children Ellis and Chappell; brother Mark Stetler Bauknight and wife Stacey, children Macon and Walker; aunts Jody Bauknight and Sara Stetler Taylor; uncle Clarence Bauknight and wife Harriet; and uncle Benjamin Stetler.
A celebration of Amy’s life was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 at First Presbyterian Church of Highlands. Rev. Emily Wilmarth officiated.
