Clyde S. "Jerry" McCall Jr., 83, of Cashiers, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019.
A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Rev. Clyde and Philadelphia Owen McCall Sr.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Carlos "John" and Dan and wife Judy McCall; and sisters, Helen Stockton and husband Roy, Sue Metcalf and husband Carrol and Ima Lee "Ducky" Jenkins and husband Ray.
Mr. McCall attended John's Hopkins University and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he enjoyed a long corporate career in the baking industry.
He loved life and was an avid musician, singing gospel music and playing the piano, guitar and banjo. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, historic renovation and wood carving.
He was devoted to his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Emma Jewel Dickerson McCall; one son, John T. McCall; one daughter, Patricia McCall-Paar and husband Jeff; one brother, Joseph "Joe Ben" McCall and wife Cecelia; four grandchildren, Brodie Dockendorf and wife Shelly, Kelly Hantelmann and husband Aaron, Sawyer and Reggie Paar; great-grandchildren, Michaela Ingersoll and husband Ryan, Christopher, Elizabeth and Owen Dockendorf; and many special nieces and nephews.
The memorial service was 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 in the chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Transylvania County Honor Guard conducting the service. Online condolences may be left at www.moodyconnollyfuneralhome.com.
