Nancy Marie Thompson Morris, born on May 13, 1927, left this earth for her new home in heaven on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019 at 92.
She was known and loved for her laughter, her gracious personality, her adventurous spirit, her faithfulness as a fun-loving wife to Bob Morris, as well as mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great grandma.
She loved to travel – with her favorite hobby being finding “dealies” and trekking around the globe. Having been raised in Hampton Beach, N.H., and later living in Sarasota, Fla. for more than 60 years, she adored the water and couldn’t go for too long a stretch without a beach fix. She and Bob began spending their summers in Cashiers in the 1980s.
Nancy Morris is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Robert E. Morris; and her son, David E. Morris. She is survived by her children, Sherri and John Hall, Shawne and Ben Gay, Rob and Cathy Morris; grandchildren, John and Laura Hall, Kelly and Nick Miles, Scott and Mollie Hall, Shane Gay, Jason and Nadira Gay, Buddy Morris, Derek and Jill Morris, Tiffany Morris, Kyle Morris, Joshua and Barbe Morris, Meagan and Andy Patillo; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was a summer member of Grace Community Church in Cashiers for 25 years. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29 at the church.
Though as a family, they are thrilled that she is now seeing Jesus, “the One whom her soul loved,” as well as being reunited with Bob and David, her presence on this earth will truly be greatly missed. Her family members said, “We love you Nanny!”
