Ronald Edmond Cox

Ronald Edmond Cox, 68, of Cashiers, passed away at Elizabeth House on March 15, following a lengthy illness.

Ron, born and raised in Belton, South Carolina, was the son of James Bailey Cox and Sara Garrison Cox. He attended Mars Hill College and the University of South Carolina in preparation for his career as a counselor. Ron remained in his profession for over 30 years in Anderson, South Carolina, where he raised his family.

Ron and his wife, Janis, retired in Cashiers, where he enjoyed antiquing, studying family history and visiting with his many friends at the local coffee shop, Buck’s.

He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife of 39 years, Janis Howell Cox, Cashiers; son, Garrison Reid Cox, and his wife Nicole Lamarche Cox, Santa Maria, California; daughter Claire Louise Cox, Glenville; brother Thomas Mitchell Cox, and his partner Dr. Kenneth Daniel Adcock, Highlands; and sister Jane Cox Moon, Georgetown, South Carolina.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, March 20, at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 1448 Highway 107 South, Cashiers, NC 28717. A reception followed in the church parish hall.
