Viola Lee Hooper

Viola Lee Hooper, age 76, of Cullowhee, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. 

Mrs. Hooper was born May 24, 1940 and is the daughter of the late George and Doris Tannery Lee. She was married to the late Lloyd Hooper.

She was a homemaker and an avid embroiderer. She was a member of Yellow Mountain Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael Lloyd Hooper and David Curtis Hooper, and two sisters, Vera Wicker and Brenda Wicker.

She is survived by three daughters: Elaine (Jim) Alexander, Debbie (Berlin) Middleton and Angie Gilbert; four grandchildren, Susan Teaster, Caitlin Gilbert, Derek Gilbert and Jamie Alexander; and two great grandchildren, Megan Beck and Justin Beck. She is further survived by one step granddaughter, Melissa Middleton; two step grandsons, Mathew Dillard and Madison Rice; as well as three sisters, Lexie Miller, Judy Richey and June Byrd.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Yellow Mountain Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Appalachian Funeral Services and Crematorium is serving the family.
