Crossroads Question of the Week for Sept. 13, 2017

Do you think the government should pay to rebuild areas over and over again for people who make a choice to build and live in coastal places like Florida -- ones known to be particularly vulnerable to hurricanes?

“Natural disasters should be taken care of by the government. But if it keeps happening, we should invest in better construction in the first place. You can only bail someone out so many times.”

“If it’s being rebuilt, you should have proper insurance -- that’s what it’s for. Insurance should pay for it -- not the government.”

Jenna Connor

Sapphire

“In Florida, they should rebuild the homes, but in Texas they shouldn’t. A big hurricane has hit Texas 170 times out of the 180 last ones.”

Max Ballantine

Cashiers

“Yes, they should, because I don’t want any more of them here. While we’re at it, let’s get rid of all the tourists here.”

Jason Potts

“That’s something I would have to sit on and think about.”
