Laban Tyson Betty
Laban Tyson Betty, 98, of Asheville, died peacefully at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community on Jan. 13, 2018.
Born in Montgomery, Alabama, he was the son of Lee Irby and Anne Tyson Betty.
He was a graduate of Duke University and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
He was retired from First Union National Bank, past board member of Biltmore Forest Country Club, and member of All Souls Episcopal church.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Anne Mitchell Betty, who passed away in 1993; and by their daughter, Catharine Hunter Mitchell, who passed away in 1997.
Survivors include his sons, Tyson Betty and wife, Nancy, Gainesville, Florida, and Mitchell Betty and wife, Darlene, Cashiers; grandchildren, Christine Denny and husband, John Gainesville, Florida, Lauren Betty-Eremin and husband, Sasha Atlanta, Georgia, Matt Betty and wife, Ann Cashiers, Kristin Betty Grimm Franklin; and great grandchildren, Ella and Tyson Denny and Sarah and Eli Betty.
The family service will be private.
